Introducing Shamrock Gold - A Better Individual Album
Right, so the last two months I’ve been working on the individual album concept, and I’ve gotten tremendous feedback. The feedback I’ve gotten is overwhelmingly positive. Now I’m unapologetically open with where I stand with my business. So the feedback was great, but here’s where I’ll be honest with you.
These albums started out as senior only albums, then last year I expanded to all kids all four years at $100, then bumped up to $125. Here’s the thing. For a freshman, that $125 is a such a tremendous deal. Even for sophomores, juniors, it locks me into multi-year contracts at as little as $3 a month. Now I always preface like hey you never know what life will do in three years, but I am 100% committed to fulfilling albums even if something happened (I like where I am at to be clear). It became obvious to me, as my quality got better, I had to charge a little more. Which now that I’m doing monthly updates on near 100 albums I’m like yeah something’s got to change.
To present monthly and yearly options for payment, I literally had to get a new website. Which is fine, it helps me showcase my work better. I keep photos on Smugmug though because there’s unlimited storage.
I try to keep my team contracts very affordable for LHS teams so these individual albums are actually a HUGE piece of how I’m able to get to all of these events and provide the coverage I do. I’m tremendous grateful to my early adopters, being honest you got a really good deal. My photos as they get better, as I edit every photo, I know I’m worth more than $3 a month. It’s a valuable service.
Album holders do have priority. Not just because they paid me, but once I run through that album I 100% know who that kid is and I’ll naturally try to hone in on them a bit.
Now, I know we all hate seeing price bumps. Trust me, as soon as I watch the new Stranger Things, I’m cancelling my ballooning Netflix subscription.

This value actually goes up. If you’re a part of Shamrock Gold your kid or kids get to participate in a media day. So lets say you’ve got a girls golfer. Now girls golf, didn’t partner with me, thus no media day. I still got out to two Lowell Girls Golf events this year which is 6-8 hours of real work. I did this specifically for my girls golf album holders. That’s why I got out twice. The media day is the big add on here, now what is that? Well I did a little test shoot with some new lights, here’s an example of what you can expect. These provide a tremendous value. When you combine the photos you’re getting, the individual album, the yearly media day shoot, priority photos at events/games, discounted sessions, and finally those sweet Graduation stage photos included for free, I know whatever option you choose is well worth it. This is essentially full photography service at your fingertips and with the second camera, new lens, new lighting, and all the equipment improvements our quality only gets better.
It far exceeds the $125 I was charging for all four years and I hope this makes sense why I made this change as Shamrock Marketing and Photography is now quite literally my full-time job. Also huge shoutout to my marketing partners Teamfi and RaizedUp. They’re local and really helped me out in January as I moved from the ad agency to Shamrock full-time.
